Early College High School (ECHS) Students

An article in the University of Texas-El Paso’s magazine recently boasted the effectiveness of Early College High Schools and the impact ECHS’ have had on the school system.  The article quotes Carl Dirk, Ph.D., professor of chemistry as saying,  “I’ve had some (ECHS) students who are head and shoulders above the rest of their classmates. They’re going to be (university) professors somewhere,” he said. “I think one of those students could go to grad school right now.”  The article goes on to discuss how the University adopted its resources for early college high school students, created new financial aid models and revised its orientation process to best serve this new hybrid of high school and transfer student.
