Texas College Access Network (TxCAN)
The Texas College Access Network (TxCAN), an initiative of Educate Texas, is part of the National College Access Network (NCAN) and operates as a sustainable network of agencies and organizations working collaboratively to increase student access and success in postsecondary education. Through TxCAN, organizations (such as the institutions of higher education, school districts, school counselors, non-profit and for-profit college access service providers, and state agencies) will have greater opportunities to work together in furthering a common mission of greater student postsecondary access and success.
Educate Texas has successfully launched efforts in San Antonio and Dallas. These local initiatives help empower Texas students and parents to navigate the college-going process and provide the resources that counselors, advisors, and schools need to more comprehensively support their students. Key areas of focus include:
- Improving college-readiness
- Supporting financial aid efforts
- Simplifying the processes for testing into, and applying for, college
- Increasing parental engagement
