To reach a goal of 60% of 25–34 year olds having a certificate or degree by 2030, college going rates must rise significantly. In order to ensure Texas students can access college, the TxCAN team is working with Texas state agency and nonprofit leaders to expand access to quality advising.

In partnership with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s Texas OnCourse team, we are developing free, comprehensive, on-demand training for new advisors. The foundational knowledge and skills for this training resource were chosen collaboratively by a team of statewide and regional college access leaders.
We are developing strategies to enhance advisor capacity by fostering greater alignment between school districts, campuses, counselors, and college advising programs.
We host pitch competitions to identify promising college access practices in Texas. For each winning pitch, we create a playbook to help college access leaders easily adopt these practices.
