How Do We Use Compression Planning®?

Dallas College has been practicing Compression Planning® since 2015. To date, the Dallas College Strategic Initiatives team has designed and facilitated more than 250 Compression Planning sessions. We have used Compression Planning® to engage and support internal and external partners in our efforts to create a Higher Education Network and affect growth in our community.

Compression Planning® was first used within Dallas College to create the Board of Trustee’s Strategic Priorities. Compression Planning® has since facilitated sessions that have transformed Dallas College safety and security, the student experience, P-TECH Early College High Schools, and Becoming One College while serving relationships with companies and organizations such as Accenture and Thomson Reuters.

Why Do We Use Compression Planning for P-TECH Industry Engagement at Dallas College?

P-TECH industry engagement presents the unique challenge of aligning two education institutions and dozens of industry partners in a cooperative and collaborative partnership focused on integrating student development and workforce readiness.

Dallas College utilizes Compression Planning® to create a consistent engagement tool for Dallas Independent School District (DISD) to explore and integrate industry partner focus, expected outcomes, and evaluation measures into the existing P-TECH program curriculum.

The rapid pace at which ideas can be explored and captured, and a working report produced, allow for the agility and flexibility required to engage the large number of P-TECH industry partners. Engaging each industry partner in a consistent activity and environment ensures continuity in purpose and approach, which allows for high-level collaborative integration. Quickly. 

To date, Dallas College has facilitated 80 P-TECH Compression Planning® sessions that have engaged every individual P-TECH industry partner, as well as coordinated engagement between multiple industry partners serving a single P-TECH location.
