Educate Texas knows that every child deserves a great teacher. In fact, good teaching is the number-one factor in preparing students for success. Ongoing teacher development programs provide the latest information on how students learn and introduce new technological tools for the classroom. The goal is to ensure that teachers have the right mix of knowledge and skills to educate diverse students across Texas.
By working with the Texas Legislature, school systems, state agencies and teacher preparation programs, Educate Texas helps identify and implement evidence-based policies that support effective teaching. The objective is to design a teacher pipeline for recruitment, development, evaluation, compensation and retention of excellent teachers.

Powered by The Commit Partnership and Communities Foundation of Texas, over 50 partner organizations across Texas are working to ensure all students have access to effective and diverse educators.
The Teaching and Learning Council acts as a resource to Texas legislators, state agencies and other regulatory bodies by sharing its research and evidence-based recommendations related to effective teaching policy.
The Texas Teacher Preparation Collaborative (The Collaborative) provided a statewide platform for educators and policymakers to focus on teacher preparation and to promote best practices and policies to affect real change for current and future teachers in Texas.
With more than 320,000 teachers shaping the future of our students and our state, the Texas Teaching Commission was convened by Educate Texas to study proven teaching practices and recommend changes at the legislative, state agency and local policy level to support teaching effectiveness. The Commission’s yearlong collaboration culminated in an in-depth report that continues to serve as a guiding resource for policy dialogue and action.
